Deafness Investigations of Aksaray Malaklısı Dogs in Sivas Province

Aksaray Malaklısı is one of the indigenous dog breeds Turkey. In this study, it aimed to reveal current situation hearing that were raised in Sivas. Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response (BAER) test was performed 34 shepherd dogs 3 farms Sivas city center and Kangal district, thresholds evaluated 20, 40, 60, 80 decibels (dB) thresholds. Afterwards, grouped as according general outlook, gender, whether ear cut or not, age range, comparisons made terms wavelengths both ears. group comparisons, independent t-test used group, Mann Whitney U applied groups formed gender Kruskal-Wallis group. All statistical analyzes SPSS v.25 package program. As a result determined total 2 animals had unilateral (left side) deafness. comparison groups, no significance detected any wave size (P>0.05). there decrease sense progressed difference between genders. This study has feature being first which deafness screening dogs. The should be expanded include hands breeder province Aksaray, where Malaklı are bred.
